Gulfstream Hosts Track Superintendent Day in '22

The 2022 edition of Track Superintendent Field Day will be held June 12-14 at Gulfstream in Hallandale Beach, Florida. This will mark the first time the event, which debuted in 2002 at Philadelphia Park (now Parx Racing), has been held at Gulfstream. The gathering brings together track superintendents and staff to discuss best practices related to track maintenance, safety and operational issues for racing and training facilities. Indiana-Bred, -Sired Stakes Back to $100K Minimum

A proposal from the Indiana Thoroughbred Breed Development (ITBD) to return the purse levels of all Indiana-bred and -sired stakes races to a minimum of $100,000 was approved by the Indiana Horse Racing Commission (IHRC) at a meeting held July 15 has been approved. The increase applies to 22 stakes event and is being made retroactive to the beginning of the stakes season, which kicked off May 19. Team Puerto Rico Wins World Jockey Challenge

Indiana Grand Racing & Casino hosted the seventh annual World Jockey Challenge Thursday with the team of seven jockeys representing Puerto Rico getting the win over a total of nine countries in the competition. Team Mexico was the runner-up while Team United States came in third. A special winner's circle presentation honored Team Puerto Rico with the World Jockey Challenge trophy. Purse Increase for Indiana Grand

Indiana Grand Racing & Casino has announced purse increases for both Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse racing, effective Tuesday, July 6. The increase will add 10% onto all Thoroughbred overnights and roughly $1,000 to each Quarter Horse overnight and trials, which reflects approximately a 6% increase for the sprinters. The Indiana Horse Racing Commission has hired Kerry Peterson, D.V.M as their Equine Medical Director. Indiana Grand to Add New Barn and Dorm

Indiana Grand is set to expand its barn and dormitory facilities. The $7-million investment project will include a new 100-stall barn and a 50-room dormitory. News of this expansion comes on the heels of Indiana Grand's recent announcement of its $32.5 million investment to grow and enhance the existing casino gaming floor.
