Woodbine Cancels Most of Sunday's Card

Woodbine Entertainment was forced to cancel races 3-10 on Sunday's card at the Etobicoke track due to inclement weather. The first two races were conducted under "clear" weather, according to the Equibase charts, but a significant amount of snow was on the ground and the Weather Network said up to 15 more inches of lake-effect snow could fall before the end of the day. The temperature was listed at -5 degrees in Celsius, or approximately 23 degrees in Fahrenheit. Live racing is scheduled to resume Thursday, Nov. 24.

Weather Forces Kentucky Downs Cancellations (Updated)

Extreme weather forced Kentucky Downs to cancel the last four races on Saturday's card, including the $1-million GIII WinStar Mint Million S. The Franklin, Ky. track will now hold the Mint Million Saturday, Sept. 10. The $500,000 Kentucky Downs Juvenile Mile, which was also scheduled for Saturday, has been moved to Wednesday, Sept. 14. Nominations have reopened for both stakes and will close Sunday, Sept. 4. All horses originally nominated to the two black-type events will automatically be renominated. Weather Forces Oaklawn to Again Reschedule Graded Stakes

Oaklawn, beset by frigid weather which necessitated the cancelling of live racing Friday-Monday, has further altered its stakes schedule to accommodate the extended weather forecast. The featured graded black-type events of Presidents' Day weekend--the GIII Bayakoa S., GIII Razorback H., and GIII Southwest S.--all originally rescheduled for Saturday, Feb. 20, have all been moved again to Sunday, Feb. 21, to take advantage of the best conditions available.
