Freshman Sire Buratino Off the Mark at Hamilton

Darley stallion Buratino (Ire) (Exceed and Excel {Aus}), who operates out of Kildangan Stud at a fee of €5,000 (on Oct. 1 special live foal terms), registered an overdue first winner when Hambleton Racing 38's Tinochio (Ire) landed the spoils going five furlongs in Wednesday's British Stallion Studs EBF Novice S. at Hamilton. Breeze-Ups Back On At Last

Europe's belated breeze-up season at last gets underway on Thursday in Newmarket, with the combined Tattersalls Craven and Ascot Breeze-Up Sales (for which the breeze took place on Monday) setting the scene ahead of the joint Goffs UK and Arqana Breeze-Up in Doncaster six days later on July 1. Osarus staged its juvenile sale online on May 27, but these will be the continent's first live, in-person (and, crucially, in-horse) bloodstock sales since the world was brought to a standstill by COVID-19 in mid-March. The Tattersalls Guineas Breeze-Up Sale will...

Lethal Force's Golden Horde Powers to Commonwealth Cup Triumph

Prince of Lir's The Lir Jet Wins the Norfolk

Having broken the all-aged track record on debut at Yarmouth June 3, The Lir Jet (GB) was a temptation that Qatar Racing couldn't resist and the operation's acquisition proved on the money as he emulated the 2009 G2 Norfolk S. success of his first-season sire Prince of Lir (Ire) on Friday. Registering the breakthrough first win for that freshman on fast ground at the East Anglian venue, the 9-2 shot had easier conditions to deal with here and also a trailblazing Wesley Ward runner as Golden Pal (Uncle Mo) powered...

Goffs UK Premier Sale Topper Powers to Rising Stardom at The Curragh

Coolmore's newcomer Admiral Nelson (GB) (Kingman {GB}) topped the lists at last year's Goffs UK Premier Yearling Sale, when knocked down to M V Magnier for £440,000 and the strapping bay repaid some of that outlay and earned 'TDN Rising Stardom' when scorching to an impressive one-length success in Friday's Tally-Ho Stud Irish EBF (C&G) Maiden over five furlongs at The Curragh. The 5-1 chance was among the slowest into stride, but tanked by rivals to stalk the leading wave from a position in the second rank after the initial...

Further Tributes to Dennis Lynch

Editor's note: We continue to receive tributes to Dennis Lynch, who passed away Friday. If you would like to submit yours for consideration for publication, email suefinley@thetdn. ANDREA GREATHOUSE I didn't know Dennis as well and as long as most, but the years I did know him will forever be memorable. The first time I met Dennis, I was young, green and new to the sales side.
