The Great Racing Welfare Cycle Challenge raised £50,000 for the charity over the weekend, with 60 cyclists taking to their bikes for a 24-hour tag team challenge around Newmarket and surrounding areas. Starting from its base at Newmarket's Rowley Mile, the challenge involved 10 teams of four to eight people. The Great Racing Welfare Showdown, a charity boxing event in the parade ring of Newmarket's Rowley Mile, has been scheduled for Saturday, June 17 by Racing Welfare. The competition consists of 22 participants boxing three two-minute bouts, with the boxers a mix of celebrities and racing staff. There will be a required eight-week training programme for those that sign up to participate managed by Derby-based Ultra White-Collar Boxing.
