An event held Sunday, Aug. 1 at McCarthy's Irish Bar in downtown Lexington raised better than $83,000 to benefit the family of Mike Recio, the part-owner of the South Point Sales Consignment, who is battling sepsis in the intensive care unit at Central Baptist Hospital. Spendthrift Farm's Mark Toothaker, a friend of Recio's who helped organize the event, estimates that better than 200 people attended the event at the popular bar and "you couldn't get another person in there with a shoehorn." PDJF Jockeys and Jeans Fundraiser Set for Sept. 11 at Monmouth

Seventeen Hall of Fame jockeys--a list that includes former Monmouth Park leading riders Don Brumfield, Julie Krone and Craig Perret--will be on hand when the seventh annual Jockeys and Jeans Fundraiser holds its annual event at Monmouth Park on Sept. 11. Naas to Help Barretstown Charity

In conjunction with the Irish EBF Ballyhane S., Naas Racecourse has partnered with Barretstown, a children's charity, which has been severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Since the start of a crowdfunding effort for Park Lane Stables RDA (Riding for the Diabled), over £362,000 has been raised toward the charity's goal of £1 million generated by Feb. 24.
