Jockey Melissa Iorio will undergo precautionary X-rays at the Monmouth Medical Center after being involved in a spill on Friday's opening race at Monmouth Park, the track announced via presser Friday. Iorio was pitched forward and onto the track in Friday's opener when Summer Flower (Summer Front) stumbled at the start, and the jockey fell into the path of Me So Lucky (Madefromlucky) on the rail. Batista Out Three to Six Weeks

Monmouth Park-based Jose Batista will be sidelined anywhere from three to six weeks after suffering fractures to his heel and ankle when his mount Sip 'n Dip broke down during the early stages of a mile-and-a-sixteenth turf race Friday, according to Dr. Angelo Chinnici, the track's medical director. Batista was taken by ambulance to Monmouth Medical Center in nearby Long Branch for X-rays following the incident. 2020 Monmouth Meet Ends on a High

Monmouth Park showed increases in both the daily transmission of its signal and in total average handle compared to 2019 during the combined 44-day meet that concluded Saturday. Monmouth Park's average daily simulcast handle increased 27.09% to $3,604,413 daily compared to $2,836,148 last year.
