Eighteen-year-old jockey Axel Concepcion, who is Maryland's top apprentice this year, has been suspended 30 days for "extremely careless" riding in a Sept. 21 race at Delaware Park that resulted in the euthanization of a rival horse that had fallen. Delaware And Pimlico Cancel Saturday Cards Due To Tropical Storm Ophelia

Due to the extreme weather conditions in the Mid-Atlantic caused by Tropical Storm Ophelia, the live racing card was canceled at Delaware Park Saturday, according to a press release from Delaware Park. The live racing day has been rescheduled to be run on Friday, November 3. The revised daily live racing schedule is Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday through the remainder of the meet which is scheduled to close on Saturday, November 4. Delaware Racing Connections Make $20K PDJF Donation

Delaware Park Casino & Racing, the Delaware Thoroughbred Horsemen's Association, the Delaware Jockeys Health and Welfare Benefit Fund and the Delaware Park Jockeys Association teamed up Saturday to donate $20,000 to the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund. Delaware Joins Growing List Of Track Cancellations Due To Heat

Joining an ever-growing list of tracks to cancel their programs to start the weekend, Delaware Park will follow suit and reschedule their Saturday live racing card due to the excessive heat forecasted for the region, the track said in a release Friday. Trainer Jamie Ness earned the 4,000th win of his career when Sing Scat (Irish War Cry), a 3-year-old filly he co-owns, captured the first race at Laurel Park Sunday.
