Tiznow (Cee's Tizzy-Cee's Song, by Seatle Song), the only horse to have won back-to-back runnings of the GI Breeders' Cup Classic, has been pensioned from stud duty, it was announced Oct. 21 by WinStar Farm. Owned by Cees Racing Stable and trained by Jay Robbins, Tiznow developed rapidly after breaking his maiden in his third career start. Many Chances in Ballerina

A well-matched field of seven fillies and mares coming from different directions in Saturday's GI Ballerina S. at Saratoga, the first of three top-level events on the GI Runhappy Travers day card at the spectator-less Spa and a "Win and You're In" event for the GI Breeders' Cup F/M Sprint. A three-time Grade I winner in her first eight career starts, the $800,000 Fasig-Tipton Gulfstream buy was a dull fifth as the favorite in the GI...

Empress Tops Loaded Apple Blossom

GI Kentucky Oaks heroine Serengeti Empress (Alternation) tops a field littered with talent--and Grade I winners--in Saturday's GI Apple Blossom S. at Oaklawn. After taking home the lilies in May, the fleet-footed filly completed the exacta in the GI Acorn S. at Belmont June 8 and missed by a half-length after a gritty stretch battle with two-time champion Covfefe (Into Mischief) in the GI Test S. at the Spa Aug. 3. Third in the GI Breeders' Cup Distaff Nov. 2, the dark bay was second to the re-opposing Lady Apple...

Lukas Takes Over Training of Come Dancing

Grade I winner Come Dancing (Malibu Moon), who has been staying in the D. Wayne Lukas barn after being shipped from Carlos Martin's outfit in New York, will remain with Lukas as she targets the Apr. 18 GI Apple Blossom H. for her seasonal debut. "Carlos Martin sent her in in beautiful shape, so my job is to keep her happy and move her forward," Lukas told the Oaklawn notes team. Lukas said fellow trainer Dale Romans suggested Martin, grandson of the late Hall of Fame trainer, Frank "Pancho" Martin,...
