Sunday Card at Woodbine Cancelled Due to High Winds

Woodbine's Sunday card was cancelled due to extreme wind. "After monitoring the weather forecast closely, Woodbine Entertainment announced today that out of an abundance of caution and in the interest of everyone's safety, Thoroughbred racing at Woodbine Racetrack has been cancelled due to the extreme weather warning for Toronto issued by Environment Canada," WEG said in a release. Indiana Grand Cancels Tuesday's Card After Two Races

The remainder of the racing program at Indiana Grand was canceled following the second race Tuesday, Oct. 20. The mutual decision was made between jockeys, track management and horsemen to call the cancellation of the remaining eight races, which included seven Thoroughbred and one Quarter Horse event. The area received several inches of continuous rain over the prior 36 hours with more in the immediate forecast. Golden Gate Fields Cancels Again Saturday Due to Smoke

For the second day in a row, Golden Gate Fields in Northern California cancelled live racing Saturday due to smoke in the area. Recent wildfires in California and Oregon have been well documented in the news, and the Bay Area, where Golden Gate Fields is located, has been one of the hardest hit locales. Air quality has been deemed unsafe for both horses and humans. After cancelling both Sept. 11 and Sept. 12 due to the conditions, Golden Gate's next day of live racing is scheduled to be Sunday.

Report: Colonial Cancels Two Cards Due to McCarthy COVID Positive

Colonial Downs has canceled Tuesday and Wednesday's card due to leading jockey Trevor McCarthy testing positive for COVID-19, according to a report by Daily Racing Form. McCarthy took off his mounts Sunday and Monday because of "flu-like symptoms", according to his agent Scott Silver. Colonial Downs Postpones Opening Day Card Due to Extreme Heat

Colonial Downs has postponed Monday's opening card due to forecasted dangerous heat conditions with heat index forecasts over 100 degrees. Monday's races will be re-carded for Sunday, Aug. 2 and horsemen will need to re-enter Tuesday, July 28. Colonial Downs's revised opening day features a nine-race card planned for Tuesday, July 28 with a post time of 5:30 p.m. ET.

With expected temperature readings in the upper 90s combined with oppressive humidity resulting in real-feel readings well into the triple digits, officials at Parx Racing in suburban Philadephia and a bit further south at Delaware Park canceled Monday's live racing programs.
