Asmussen Wins 19th Remington Park Training Title, Elliott Takes Second Riding Title

Trainer Steve Asmussen won his 19th Chuck Taliaferro Award as Remington Park's leading trainer following the conclusion of the meet over the weekend. Asmussen's assistant, Pablo Ocampo, handles the string at Remington as the pair posted 60 wins during the meet while grossing $1,681,617 in earnings. Asmussen was also the only trainer to win four races on one program this season, accomplishing the quadruple on Springboard Mile Night, the final race card of the meet. HISA Authority: Oklahoma Lawsuit Amounts To 'Foot-Dragging and Gamesmanship'

Ahead of a Wednesday federal court hearing to determine if a temporary injunction is warranted in Oklahoma to keep the Horseracing and Safety Integrity Act (HISA) from being enforced in that state, the HISA Authority filed a legal response Monday that stated "there is no emergency" that would merit such action. The Authority further told the court that the eight licensed Remington Park horsepeople who are plaintiffs in the case are engaging in "foot-dragging and gamesmanship" in their repeated efforts to derail HISA on the grounds of alleged unconstitutionality.
