Fundraiser Launched for Cancer Sufferer Lucy Horan

Laura Gibson-Brabazon of Newmarket Racecourses has launched a fundraising campaign to aid her friend Lucy Horan to seek urgent cancer treatment in Germany. Horan, 28, was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer earlier this year. The money raised will be used to help her receive groundbreaking vaccine treatment which is unavailable in the UK. A Newmarket resident since 2017, Horan is employed by bloodstock insurers Weatherbys Hamilton and has also ridden out regularly for trainers in the town, including Lucy Wadham, James Ferguson and more recently Charlie Fellowes. LA Cup Day Features Shantel Lanerie Breast Cancer Fundraiser

In support of the Shantel Lanerie Cancer Breast Foundation, Harrah's Louisiana Downs will host a fundraiser Saturday, Sept. 19. The wife of jockey Corey Lanerie was diagnosed with Stage 1 breast cancer in January, 2018, and passed away six months later. She is survived by her parents, husband and daughter, Brittlyn. Beginning at 2:00 pm on Louisiana Cup Day, a table will be set up in the grandstand with monogrammed apparel and memorabilia.
