For the first time, prize-money in Victoria, Australia will be above A$300 million, as the 2022-2023 racing schedule was released on Tuesday by Racing Victoria. Racing NSW announced that courtesy of an increase in sponsorship, the prizemoney for the Golden Eagle will be increased to A$10 million from A$8 million. The 2022-2024 Godolphin Flying Start Class was announced on Tuesday. The 12 trainees for the two-year Thoroughbred Industry Management and Leadership Programme are from five different countries and will begin the course on Aug. 15, 2022. Thoroughbred trainer Colin Sherwood, a native of Perth, Western Australia who won the 1960 G1 Railway S. with Wesmaster, died Sept. 29 in Safety Harbor, FL., after a brief illness. He was 90.
