Audarya Enhances Fanshawe's Broad Portfolio

Last Saturday at Keeneland was a banner day for the European Breeders' Cup raiders, who won all four of the races on turf. While Aidan O'Brien, who trained the first three home in the Breeders' Cup Mile, has enjoyed his fair share of success at the meeting over the years, there was first-time victories for Dermot Weld, James Fanshawe and Kevin Ryan. Fanshawe's Pegasus Stables welcomed home Alison Swinburn's Filly & Mare Turf winner Audarya (Fr) (Wootton Bassett {GB}) on Thursday and, while she will soon be off on her...

What's in a Name: Audarya

The winner of the GI Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf was named by her fortunate owner after a Sardinian wine company, according to her trainer--the great James Fanshawe of Pegasus Stables in Newmarket. French Group 1 winner Audarya (Fr) (Wootton Bassett {GB}) punctuated her U.S. debut with a well-earned victory over five-time Grade I scorer Rushing Fall (More Than Ready) in the Maker's Mark GI Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf at Keeneland Saturday afternoon. GI Woodbine Mile heroine Starship Jubilee (Indy Wind) stumbled at the start, dropping Florent Geroux as Cayenne Pepper (Ire) (Australia {GB}) raced out from her outside berth to set the pace with Mean Mary (Scat Daddy) and Rushing Fall in close pursuit. Approaching the half-mile pole, Audarya moved...

Euro Raiders Break The Ice At Keeneland

LEXINGTON, KY--With temperatures plunging into subzero depths overnight on Sunday, there was a truly wintery feel at Keeneland on Monday morning to coincide with the release from quarantine-a concept that many more of their human custodians can relate to in 2020--of most of the European Breeders' Cup raiders. (Click here for a video of European Breeders' Cup contenders training on Monday) As tractors worked over the main dirt course attempting to thaw it, training was restricted in the early morning hours to Keeneland's training track, and the Jessica Harrington-trained fillies...
