Champion South African Sire Silvano Dies

Silvano (Ger) (Lomitas {GB}-Spirit of Eagles, by Beau's Eagle), a multiple champion sire in South Africa, has died aged 25 at Maine Chance Farms, the stud reported via Twitter. Silvano had been pensioned since last October. A second-generation stallion bred by the Jacobs family's Gestut Fahrhof, Silvano won the G2 Oppenheim-Colonia-Union- Rennen for trainer Andreas Wohler at four and added the G2 Grosser Preis der Wirtschaft at five. Newsells Park Stud Sold To Smith-Bernal

Newsells Park Stud, which has been owned by the Jacobs family since 2000, has been sold to owner/breeder and tech entrepreneur Graham Smith-Bernal. The Hertfordshire farm is home to the stallions Nathaniel (Ire) and Without Parole (GB), and the sale agreed with Jacobs Holdings includes the stud's bloodstock and 1,200-acre property. Albin-Jacobs Appointed Newsells Chairman

Nathalie Albin-Jacobs, youngest daughter of the late Klaus J. Jacobs, has taken over as a chairman of Newsells Park Stud from Andreas Jacobs. Andreas Jacobs will remain on the board of directors. Albin-Jacobs said, "I'm very proud and excited to be able to continue the Jacobs family tradition at Newsells.
