Successful Lacken Return For Wootton Bassett's Bucanero Fuerte

Showing that he retains all his ability, AMO Racing and Giselle De Aguiar's G1 Phoenix S. and G2 Railway S. winner Bucanero Fuerte (GB) (Wootton Bassett {GB}–Frida La Blonde {Fr}, by Elusive City) made virtually all on his seasonal bow in Sunday's G3 Goffs Lacken S. at Naas. Last seen finishing third in the seven-furlong G1 Vincent O'Brien National S. at The Curragh in September, the 2-1 second favourite who was racing under a three-pound penalty demonstrated his early speed to take control under David Egan and stayed on strongly to deny the 5-4 market-leader Givemethebeatboys (Ire) (Bungle Inthejungle {GB}) by a head.

“He's a nice horse and is going to improve a lot, because we were not hard on him and he will get fit from the race,” Robson Aguiar said. “He will go over six furlongs at Ascot. He has great speed and he stays well, so that is the plan for him now.”

Pedigree Notes
Bucanero Fuerte is a full-brother to the G1 Prix de l'Abbaye de Longchamp-winning sire Wooded (Ire) and the G3 Sovereign S. runner-up Beat Le Bon (Fr), with the dam Frida La Blonde being a daughter of the listed scorer and G2 Premio Regina Elena runner-up Firm Friend (Ire) (Affirmed). She in turn produced the dual listed winner and dual group 3-placed Fred Lalloupet (GB) also by Elusive City, as well as the fellow listed winner and G3 Prix de Cabourg-placed sire Mon Pote Le Gitan (Thunder Gulch). The dam's 2-year-old filly by Dubawi (Ire) named Battle Rhythm (GB) was the Arqana Deauville August topper when selling to Oliver St Lawrence Bloodstock for €2.4million.
