MGSW Soffia (GB) (Kyllachy {GB}–Rime A Rien {GB}, by Amadeus Wolf {GB}) has been retired and will visit Frankel (GB) this season, Racing Post reported on Sunday. Bred by Newsells Park Stud and an 16,000gns Tattersalls December weanling turned €52,000 Tattersalls Ireland September yearling, the dark bay was trained by Eddie Lynam for Lady O'Reilly. A four-time winner at three, Soffia truly shone at four, taking the Listed Sole Power Sprint S., G3 Ballyogan S. and G2 Sapphire S. in succession from May to June of 2019. She was a last out fifth in the G1 Flying Five S. at The Curragh on Irish Champions Weekend and her record stands at 15-7-2-1, $323,202. She has changed hands again, and will head to the paddocks under new ownership.
“She was a very good filly and was the first foal Amy ever bought,” the trainer told Racing Post of the granddaughter of French listed winner Rainbow Crossing (GB) (Cape Cross {Ire}). “We ended up buying her off Amy as a yearling and we knew she had ability and that she was useful as a 2-year-old. She progressed into a very good 3-year-old and ended up being a high-class 4-year-old. She's gone to stud now and will be sadly missed. She ended the season with a rating of 115 and was one of the best, arguably the best filly I ever trained. My understanding is she's going to visit Frankel.”
