Leading international owner/breeder Khalid Abdullah looks set to have his first runner in the G1 Melbourne Cup this year. Plans are in place to target the Sir Michael Stoute trained Snow Sky (GB) (Nayef) at the race in Flemington Nov. 3 with connections opting not to take in a local race on the way. Outlining plans, Lord Grimthorpe, racing manager to the owner said, “The plan at this stage is to take Snow Sky to the Melbourne Cup where he will head without a prep. Sir Michael had half thought about the Irish St. Leger for him but thinks it best if we keep him fresh. It's exciting for the Prince as we certainly have not had a runner in my time with him and as a dual Group 2 winner we think Snow Sky has more to give at the top level.” Last seen finishing a tame sixth in the G1 King George VI And Queen Elizabeth S. the 4-year-old Juddmonte homebred had previously logged an impressive front running display to win the G2 Hardwicke S. at Royal Ascot.
