Having had success with the likes of dual Horse of the Year Curlin, champion My Miss Aurelia and Dominus, it was no surprise that Barbara Banke's Stonestreet Stables would emerge as the winning bidder on a bid of $900,000 on another son of Lane's End's Smart Strike Thursday at Keeneland. Consigned by Dromoland Farm as agent for its longtime client Peter Blum, hip 1021 was produced by Mon Belle (Maria's Mon), a full sister to GI Kentucky Derby hero Monarchos. Blum acquired the mare for $290,000 at Keeneland November in 2005 and has sold successfully from her in the past, including a filly by Empire Maker purchased as a FTSAUG yearling by George Bolton for $400,000 in 2009.
