Funeral services have been set for Gerry Dilger, who passed away early Wednesday morning at the age of 61 from a cardiac condition. Visitation will be at Kerr Brothers, 3421 Harrodsburg Road in Lexington, KY, Sunday from 4-8 p.m. A funeral mass will be held Monday at Cathedral of Christ the King, 299 Colony Blvd., Lexington, at 1 p.m., followed by a burial at Lexington Cemetery.
A Gofundme page has been started in Dilger's honor to raise money for The Gerry Dilger Equine Scholarship Foundation. Donations may be made on the page, here, or a check made payable to the fund and mailed to Paramount Sales, 449 Lewis Hargett Circle, Suite 190, Lexington, KY, 40503. The fund will serve to benefit students in the Irish National Stud course, which educates young people for a career in the Thoroughbred industry, and, if enough is raised, to also sponsor students in the Kentucky Equine Management Internship, which improves opportunities for college students wishing to pursue a career in equine management.
“We thought this would honor Gerry and his family by continuing Gerry's passion to forward the education and mentorship of these young people,” said Paramount Sales' Lesley Campion of the fund. “We thought it was a fitting tribute to him.”
