Runner-up in this track's Listed Noblesse S. and in The Curragh's Listed Orby S. in her prior two starts this term, The Aga Khan's Sumiha (Ire) (Sea The Stars {Ire}) stepped up a notch on Friday evening to garner a breakthrough win in Cork's G3 Darley Munster Oaks. Anchored towards the back early by Chris Hayes, the Dermot Weld-trained relative of Sinndar (Ire) stayed on resolutely to collar Trevaunance (Ire) (Muhaarar {GB}) passing the two-furlong pole and register a 1 1/4-length success as the 11-8 favourite.

“It was run at a good gallop and was a true test, but she is a talented filly,” Kris Weld said. “She deserved to win a race of that nature and is a lovely, kind-natured filly. She has had three relatively quick races now, so we'll freshen her up and look to the autumn.”

Pedigree Notes
Sumiha is the third foal out of the G3 Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial runner-up Summaya (Ire) (Azamour {Ire}), whose listed-placed dam Simawa (Ire) (Anabaa) is a half-sister to the aforementioned Arc and Derby-winning European champion Sinndar. Also a half to the listed scorer Silwana (Ire) (Peintre Celebre) and the multiple group winner Sinawann (Ire) (Kingman {GB}), she has Kingman's unraced 3-year-old filly Sulaiyma (GB), the unraced 2-year-old filly Sulya (Ire) (Pinatubo {Ire}) and a yearling daughter of Night Of Thunder (Ire).
