Classic winner Romanised (Ire) (Holy Roman Empeor {Ire}) is set to kick off his 2020 campaign in next month's G2 Paddy Power Minstrel S. at The Curragh. The 5-year-old won the seven-furlong event last year, and trainer Ken Condon has set his sights on the July 18 contest once again. Romanised won the G1 Irish 2000 Guineas in 2018 before adding a second Group 1 win to his record when lifting the Jacques le Marois last year–and a return to Deauville is also on the radar.
Condon said, “Romanised will run in the Minstrel S. next month, and we might have an away day before that–possibly at Leopardstown on July 1. We wanted to have his first run at home and then return to Deauville for the Jacques le Marois.”
Romanised is then likely to return to France again for the Prix du Moulin at ParisLongchamp–in which he finished runner-up last September.
Condon added, “He looks well. He has a few kilos to loose, but he's coming along. I would think he'll go for the Moulin after Deauville. Robert [Ng, owner] is Hong Kong-based and has never seen him in the flesh, so he might like him to have a run out there, and he's retiring after this year.”
