Precious Gem To The Breeding Shed

Precious Gem | Racing And Sports

Group 1 winner Precious Gem (Aus) (Econsul {NZ}–Gem of Gems, {Aus}, by Peintre Celebre) has been retired from racing to begin a new chapter as a broodmare. The Henry Dwyer-trained 6-year-old ran her final race last Saturday when finishing seventh in the G1 Tattersall's Club Tiara behind Miss Cover Girl (Aus) (Monashee Mountain). She had previously landed the G1 UBET Classic at Morphettville in May before she was offered for sale as a racing and breeding prospect at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale where she was purchased by the China Horse Club for A$825,000. Retiring with a record of 37-8-7-3 and earnings of A$660,400, the bay will relocate to Sledmere Stud in the Hunter Valley to be prepared for a mating with Coolmore first-season sire, 'TDN Rising Star' and 2015 G1 Golden Slipper hero Vancouver (Aus) (Medaglia d'Oro), who is also part-owned by the China Horse Club.
