A major interest in G1 Prix de la Foret hero Aclaim (Ire) (Acclamation {GB}–Aris {Ire}, by Danroad {Aus}) has been purchased by Phoenix Thoroughbreds, Phoenix CEO Amer Abdul Aziz announced on Sunday. Also a two-time Group 2 winner, the Martyn Meade trainee is scheduled to stand his first season at the National Stud in 2018.

“We at Phoenix have followed Aclaim's career for some time and are delighted to buy into him,” explained Abdul Aziz. “We cannot wait to see his foals and look forward to racing his progeny in the future. After Kerri Radcliffe recognised the opportunity, we decided that we simply had to invest.”

A winner of $595,666, Aclaim completed his racing career in the best possible style with a personal-best winning effort in the Prix de la Foret after overcoming trouble in the running in the closing stages. Prior to his Foret victory, Aclaim's racing career had been defined by his class and versatility, with him proving effective from six furlongs to a mile on a wide variety of racing surfaces and ground conditions as he progressed up the ranks, with wins in the G2 Challenge S., the G2 Park S. and the Listed Dubai Duty Free Cup among his seven lifetime wins. He was also runner-up in the G1 LARC Prix Maurice de Gheest from 15 starts.

Radcliffe commented, “I've admired Aclaim from afar for some time. He has the looks, the pedigree and has proven himself at the highest level on the racecourse, so to be able to add him to the Phoenix portfolio is a great coup for our team.”

The 4-year-old is a son of the well-established sire-of-sires Acclamation and his immediate family members include the top racehorse and sire Montjeu (Ire) (Sadler's Wells), the champion juvenile filly and G1 Irish 1000 Guineas winner Again (Ire) (Danehille Dancer {Ire}) and the G1 2000 Guineas winner Galileo Gold (GB) (Paco Boy {Ire}). Aclaim will stand for a fee of £12,500.
