Paris Mission For Akihiro

Akihiro | Scoop Dyga

While he never made the Classics, the Wertheimers' Akihiro (Jpn) (Deep Impact {Jpn}) still has a lot of road ahead of him and he has been found an ideal confidence-building exercise by Andre Fabre in Sunday's G2 Prix du Conseil de Paris at Chantilly. Last year's G3 Prix des Chenes winner sidestepped the Europe's Derbys after finishing second to Soleil Marin (Ire) (Kendargent {Fr}) in the G3 Prix Noailles here on Apr. 16 and third in Saint-Cloud's G2 Prix Greffulhe on May 8, and returned from a break to score in the Listed Prix Turenne over this trip at the latter venue on Sept. 13. Last year's winner One Foot In Heaven (Ire) (Fastnet Rock {Aus}) was out of his depth when 11th in the Oct. 1 G1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe over this course and distance and has to prove he is in the same form as 12 months ago.
