Oaks 'Fantasies' For 3-Year-Olds at Oaklawn

Oaklawn Park's series of races for 3-year-old fillies culminates Saturday afternoon with a contentious renewal of the GIII Fantasy S. over 1 1/16 miles. Joe Ragsdale's Sarah Sis (Sharp Humor) proved that her narrow loss to reigning champion Take Charge Brandi (Giant's Causeway) in the Jan. 31 Martha Washington S. was no fluke, recently returning to annex the trip-and-track GIII Honeybee S. by 1 1/2 lengths Mar. 7. The Ingrid Mason trainee has been first or second in all six of her previous starts, and breaks from the rail in this event. Gary and Mary West's Oceanwave (Harlan's Holiday) has shown flashes of considerable talent in her four-race career, including a seven-furlong maiden score at Keeneland Oct. 19 in which she defeated subsequent GSP Lassofthemohicans (Indian Charlie) by a nose. The grey weaved her way through traffic to finish a clear second behind Sarah Sis in the Honeybee last out. Trainer Todd Pletcher has already shipped runners in to win two stakes contests at this meet, and looks to add to that total with MGISP Feathered (Indian Charlie). Second by a half-length to the afforementioned Take Charge Brandi in Los Alamitos' GI Starlet S. to close out her 2-year-old season, the bay returned with a dull fourth-place finish as the heavy favorite in a seven-furlong optional claimer at Gulfstream Park Mar. 6. Tabbed as the slight favorite in this spot, she worked a bullet four furlongs in :47.97 one week ago at Pletcher's Palm Beach Downs base.
