Just a mid-May foal, WISH YOU WELL (American Freedom) was purchased by Redwings for $160K at the 2020 Fasig-Tipton Selected Yearlings Showcase and improved into a $550K Fasig-Tipton Gulfstream juvenile after working a furlong in :10 flat (see below). The most expensive of her sire's 39 first-crop 2-year-olds reported as sold last year, Wish You Well made a giant impression in her career debut at Gulfstream Apr. 2, defeating the well-meant Inventing (Union Rags) by a half-length, good for an 85 Beyer Speed Figure. Connections thought enough of that effort to nominate the chestnut to Friday's GII Eight Belles S., but they take the conservative approach for now by option for this softer spot. A half-sister to Grade III-winning turf sprinter Chanteline (Majesticperfection) and to dual stakes winner Kell Paso (Divine Park), Wish You Well is out of an unraced Indian Charlie half-sister to MSW Your Bluffing (Pine Bluff). Trainer Mike Stidham takes the wraps off Godolphin homebred AIOLI (Medaglia d'Oro) in this event that could be subject to a surface switch given a wet forecast. The bay is the fourth to make the races from her dam, who topped the 2008 Keeneland September sale on a bid of $3.1-million from John Ferguson and has since gone on to produce 2019 GI Beholder Mile winner Secret Spice (Discreet Cat) and SP Mexican Hat (Street Cry {Ire}). Aioli shares her GSW & GISP granddam Chimichurri (Elusive Quality) with Canadian Horse of the Year Wonder Gadot (Medaglia d'Oro), GISW Hard Not to Love (Hard Spun) and SW/GSP Solemn Tribute (Medaglia d'Oro).
