Tattersalls has catalogued 197 lots for its inaugural March Sale, which was added to the calendar once it became apparent that the February Sale would have to be held online only.

A single session at Park Paddocks on Wednesday, March 31—two days after the easing of the British lockdown commences—is made up of 116 colts and geldings in and out of training, 640 broodmares and fillies, 12 yearlings and five 2-year-olds.

The David Loughnane-trained Dark Pine (Ire) (Dandy Man {Ire}) has won his two starts this year, his only outings since being being bought from his breeder Moyglare Stud for 27,000gns in October. The 4-year-old is catalogued as lot 120. Prior to that the Royal Studs will offer as lot 98 the once-raced Orchestral (GB), a 3-year-old son of Lope De Vega (Ire) and dual listed winner Set To Music (Ire) (Danehill Dancer {Ire}), who was previously in training with Roger Charlton.

Also catalogued is the progressive-looking Glentaneous (Ire), a 3-year-old son of Gleneagles (Ire) out of a winning full-sister to the high-class Youmzain (Ire) (Sinndar {Ire}). He will be offered as lot 129 by his trainer Brian Meehan, for whom he won a Lingfield novice race on his second start on Feb. 27.

“The addition of the Tattersalls March Sale to our 2021 sales calendar came in response to the COVID-related disruption to the February Sale and we have a catalogue which has all the ingredients to appeal to the customary mix of domestic and international buyers,” said Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony.

“Strict COVID protocols will continue to be in place, but we are looking forward to welcoming registered participants to Park Paddocks for the March Sale, and those unable to attend in person will as ever be able to use our Live Internet and Telephone Bidding platforms.”
