MyRacehorse to Donate Portion of May Proceeds to Backstretch Workers

MyRacehorse, the micro-shares ownership syndicate, has pledged to donate 10% of proceeds derived in the month of May to three charities which support backstretch workers: Backside Learning Center, Backstretch Employee Service Team, and the Edwin J. Gregson Foundation.

“We knew we wanted to use our platform to raise funds to assist the backstretch workers during this difficult time, and by partnering with the three selected non-profits, we are thrilled to know the funds will be put in very capable hands and optimized to the fullest,” said My Racehorse founder Michael Behrens.

The donations will be made 100% from MyRacehorse fees, but the group's website will include links should users wish to make their own contribution. Donations are expected to top $25,000.

Behrens added, “For thousands of our owners, this is the first time they have ever owned a horse. Many never had a full appreciation for the roles, responsibilities and needs of the backside community. I think this crisis has been very eye-opening and educational to these new owners and will indeed have a lasting impact on how they support the racing industry moving forward.

He continued, “As far as our role at MyRacehorse, we have always included a donation to a racing charity with every share sold which is something we are committed to continuing in the short and long term.”
