Taken in hand, he rated patiently while racing two wide in company into the far turn with Space (Ghostzapper) until given his cue with just over a quarter mile to run. Still with a length to make up on the leader turning for home, Quick Hammer wasted no time reeling that tiring rival in inside of the final eighth and drawing off. Signator (Tapit), a $1.7-million OBS April purchase, rallied nicely but ran out of ground as Quick Hammer went on to a 1 1/4-length win. The eighth winner for his freshman sire (by Eskendereya), Quick Hammer is a half-brother to Kalypso (Brody's Cause), GISW, $601,878 and is out of a full-sister to MGSW Prospective.
