GIRL TALK (f, 3, Medaglia d'Oro–One Caroline {MGSW, $317,962}, by Unbridled's Song), third in her seven-furlong debut at Keeneland Apr. 8, was second when stretched to 1 1/16 miles at Belmont June 2. The 1-2 favorite sat a stalking third behind fractions of : 23.84 and :48.44. Tipped out at the top of the lane, Girl Talk engaged pacesetting Crystal Wave (Tapit) in upper stretch with Verve's Tale (Tale of Ekati) a menancing presence just to her outside. The pacesetter began to tire, leaving Girl Talk to outbattle Verve's Tale to the wire. The victory was the fifth win at the four-day old Saratoga meeting for trainer Kiaran McLaughlin. Girl Talk was a $390,000 KEESEP yearling. Her dam One Caroline, a $400,000 FTNAUG yearling purchase of 2006 by G. Watts Humphrey, Jr., won the 2009 GII Rampart S. and GIII Sabin S. in the Humphreys' colors.
