Lone Star Posts Its Biggest Year-Over-Year Handle Increase

Lone Star Park reported an 11.7% increase in live handle at its recently concluded 20th Anniversary Thoroughbred Season, the largest year-over-year handle increase in the track's history. The total amount wagered on Lone Star's live product, both on and off-track, was $46.5 million, up from $41.6 million last year. Daily averages were $929,835 compared to $832,433 a year ago. Total attendance during the meet was 337,584, down 6.8% from last year's figure of 362,434. Average attendance was 6,752 compared to 7,249 last year.

“It was a terrific thoroughbred season as is befitting our 20th anniversary,” said Scott Wells, Lone Star's President and General Manager. “We were up over the last few years in nearly every category, the exception being total attendance, and that is due to the fact that we had three concerts instead of six.”
