In some remarks I made as the Thoroughbred Club of America's Honor Guest this past Sunday night in Lexington, I mistakenly insinuated that the Racing Medication & Testing Consortium (RMTC) had made very little progress over the course of the past 15 years. While I continue to be frustrated by our industry's lack of uniformity when it comes to rules, regulations and penalties, the RMTC does not deserve the blame for any of that. On the contrary, the RMTC, with its broad-based board of directors, has made tremendous strides through exhaustive research by their team of very qualified individuals led by Dr. Dionne Benson. I sincerely apologize for incorrectly portraying the organization in a negative light and I hope all industry stakeholders continue to support the RMTC as it seeks to ensure the integrity of racing, the health of its participants and the interests of the racing public.
