Juddmonte International Named Top Race of 2014

The International Federation of Horseracing Authorities (IFHA) has released its list of the top 100 Group/Grade I races of 2014, and for the third consecutive season, the top-rated event was York's G1 Juddmonte International S. The annual list of ratings is based on an average of the Longines World's Best Racehorse Rankings ratings for the first four placed runners over the past three years. 

Over the past few years, the International has been won by Frankel (GB) (Galileo {Ire}), highest-rated horse in the world, 2012); Declaration of War (War Front, 2013); and Australia (GB) (Galileo {Ire}) last season. The remaining top 10 races, in order, were: G1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, QIPCO Champion S., Breeders' Cup Classic, Prince of Wales's S., Prix Jacques le Marois, King George VI & Queen Elizabeth S., Japan Cup (in association with Longines), Arima Kinen and Longines Breeders' Cup Turf. The top rated races in the 5 respective distance categories are the Black Caviar Lightning S. (Sprint), Prix Jacques Le Marois (Mile), Juddmonte International S. (Intermediate), Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (Long), and Tenno Sho (Spring) (Extended). The highest rated race for fillies and mares is the Qatar Prix Vermeille. 

A total of 12 countries comprise this year's list, representing the foremost racing events throughout the world across 39 different racecourses. Australia leads all countries with 26 total races, followed by the United States of America (23), Great Britain (16), Japan (10), France (9), Hong Kong (6), United Arab Emirates (5), Canada (1), Germany (1), Ireland (1), Singapore (1), and South Africa (1).
