Black Rock Thoroughbreds' unbeaten Far From Over (Blame–Alchemist, by A.P. Indy)–an improbable winner of the Feb. 7 GIII Withers S. (video) in his second career start after stumbling badly at the break, will have a pair of additional co-owners when lining up next for the GI Twinspires.com Wood Memorial S. at Aqueduct Apr. 4.
Steven Marshall, the president of Western Energy Production company, has sold a 25-percent interest in the $550,000 KEESEP yearling graduate to James Covello (click here for a TDN feature) and Sol Kumin of Madaket Stable. Marshall also campaigned 2012 GI CashCall Futurity hero and current Hill 'n' Dale stallion Violence (Medaglia d'Oro).
“I am very grateful to Steve for allowing us to buy into the horse,” Covello, an equity research analyst for Goldman Sachs, said. “Steve is a good friend and I am an investor in some of his other ventures and am thrilled to partner with him again on this deal. I couldn't be more excited to see how this horse's career progresses given the brilliance he showed in his second start, especially in light of the fact that he's a May 9th foal with a pedigree that suggests he should get much better as he gets older. It's a cliche, but it's true that he's the kind of horse that keeps you up at nights so I guess I better go buy some more Ambien!”
Far From Over, produced by a graded stakes placed daughter of GI Go For Wand H. heroine Aldiza (Storm Cat), was also a game winner in his two-turn debut at Aqueduct Dec. 12. He is trained by Todd Pletcher.
