Michael Hardy, the former Head of Sales for Goffs and general manager of Margaux Farm near Lexington, has been appointed as the new director of farm operations and property at Jim and Dana Bernhard's Pin Oak Stud, officials at the nursery announced Monday.
Born into a racing family in Northern Ireland, Hardy gained early experience on his family's stud farm before completing a degree in Equine Science at the University of Limerick. He was a participant in the Irish National Stud's Management Course in addition to the Godolphin Flying Start program. Hardy spent six years at Margaux, helping it expand and develop into a premier breeding and training facility before returning to Ireland in a bloodstock role with Goffs for the last three years.
“It's an incredible opportunity to return to Kentucky in this new role,” stated Hardy. “The Bernhard family has such a clear and inspiring vision for the future of Pin Oak Stud. Building on the legacy left by Ms. Abercrombie, I am thrilled to help bring that vision to life and contribute to a successful future for the farm.”
Added Pin Oak Vice President Ben Bernhard: “Michael Hardy is a great addition to the Pin Oak family. His proven leadership abilities, extensive knowledge of the industry, and passion for innovation will be instrumental in shaping the future of the farm.”
