The G1 Prix Jean Prat will now be sponsored by Haras d'Etreham after a partnership between the historic stud farm and France Galop was announced on Wednesday. The 2021 edition of the 1400-metre race at Deauville will be held on July 11.
“We have been looking for several years to sponsor a high-level Flat race and are really delighted to be able to partner with the Prix Jean Prat, the only Group 1 over the 1400-metre distance exclusively reserved for 3-year-olds in Europe,” said Haras d'Etreham Managing Director Nicolas de Chambure. “This contest is becoming a reference in the selection of future stallions, having been won in recent years by horses such as Pinatubo (Ire) and Too Darn Hot (GB). Through this sponsorship and the hospitality we will offer on the occasion, we also wish to express our gratitude to all those who support us, and share with them a magnificent day at the races.”
Besides the Prix Jean Prat, Deauville Racecourse will also host the G3 Prix Ris-Orangis, Listed Prix Kistena, Listed Prix La Calonne, Listed Prix Amandine and the Listed Prix Roland de Chambure. The last-named is also part of the Haras d'Etreham sponsorship.
“We wished to enhance our association with this race which was named in memory of my grandfather and I would like to thank France Galop for accepting our request,” added de Chambure.
President of France Galop, Edouard de Rothschild, said, “France Galop is pleased to extend the existing association with the Haras d'Etreham, an historic stud whose team show great dynamic spirit and audacity. The choice of the Prix Jean Prat for this new partnership will contribute to increasing the growing European notoriety of this major event of the Deauville program, contested on the track's famous straight course. This Group 1 event in July will be a perfect showcase for the savoir-faire of the Haras d'Etreham.”
