Observations on the European Racing Scene turns the spotlight on the best European races of the day, highlighting well-pedigreed horses early in their careers, horses of note returning to action and young runners that achieved notable results in the sales ring. Today's Observations features a half to Group 1 winner and standout producer Lillie Langtry.

Bjorn Nielsen's MAGISTERIAL (IRE) (Frankel {GB}), who was a 300,000gns vendor buy-back at last year's Tattersalls October Book 1 yearling sale, is kin to three stakes performers including G1 Coronation S. and G1 Matron S. victrix Lillie Langtry (Ire) (Danehill Dancer {Ire}), herself the dam of MG1SW dual Classic winner Minding (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) and this year's G1 Irish 1000 Guineas heroine Empress Josephine (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}). Opposition to the John and Thady Gosden incumbent includes Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum's similarly unraced homebred Subastar (Ire) (Sea the Stars {Ire}), who is a Roger Varian-trained grandson of G1 Oaks d'Italia heroine Zomaradah (GB) (Deploy {GB}). The latter's progeny, of course, are headed by MG1SW sire Dubawi (Ire) (Dubai Millennium {GB}).
