The TRF's 2019 Giving Tuesday goal is $10,000. Our campaign is called “No hoof, no horse,” and it is dedicated to our TRF Herd's Farrier Fund. With the help of existing donors and new donors all coming together–with one small gift each–we hope to fund ONE MONTH of our Farrier Fund in ONE DAY. December 3 is the day!
About the TRF Farrier Fund
The well-known phrase “No hoof, no horse” dates back to at least Shakespeare's day; a book was published with this title in England in 1751; and many claim it was first coined by the ancient Greeks… but there's no argument around the world and across the broadest reach of horse-lovers everywhere that a horse's health is tied directly to the health of its hooves. Across our nation-wide herd, our 19 farms, and seven TRF Second Chances Programs, the TRF relies on the expertise, caring and hard work of dozens of dedicated farriers (otherwise known as Blacksmiths) to tend to the four fragile feet of our aging equine athletes.
This amazing team of equine podiatrists help us and our herd all year long, through all weather and all seasons. As we rally our friends of the TRF Herd today, we will be sharing our heartfelt thanks to this extraordinary group of “heroes for the horses” whose hard work is at the heart at of our mission. It is our donors, like you, who enable us to provide this quality of care with each of our horses. We are thankful to you for this support!
About Giving Tuesday
Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving. This year Giving Tuesday falls on December 3–and we hope you'll join us!
On Tuesday, December 3, the staff, leadership, volunteers and friends of the TRF have set their sights on raising funds to cover the cost of one month of farrier fees for our beloved herd of aging horses (and hooves).
This #GivingTuesday campaign is a timely opportunity to extend a bit of the holiday spirit to these beautiful animals who depend on the safe, secure and lifelong sanctuary of the TRF when they are no longer able to compete or pursue second athletic careers.
