In this continuing series, we take a look ahead at US-bred and/or conceived runners entered for the upcoming weekend at the tracks on the Japan Racing Association circuit, with a focus on pedigree and/or performance in the sales ring. Here are the horses of interest for this Saturday running at Niigata and Sapporo Racecourses. Horses of interest for Sunday's program at Niigata will appear in Saturday's TDN:

Saturday, August 3, 2024
3rd-NII, ¥13,720,000 ($92k), Newcomers, 2yo, 1800m
SHIN BELIEVE (c, 2, Constitution–Sand Puce {Arg}, by Footstepsinthesand {GB}) was bought back on a bid of $385,000 at last year's Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Sale, but breezed a furlong in :9 4/5 at the OBS March Sale this spring and was hammered down to Forever Young's owner Susumu Fujita for $800,000. The colt's dam, a half-sister to three-time U.S. stakes winner Stormy Publisher (Arg) (Bernstein), won no fewer than 11 races at group level and was placed a half-dozen times in Group 1 company at home. B-Don Alberto Corporation (KY)

CHIMNEY TOPS (c, 2, Tapit–Speedinthruthecity, by City Zip) cost Katsumi Yoshida $500,000 at last year's Keeneland September Sale and is the latest produce from a three-time stakes-winning and dual graded-placed dam who has already accounted for the colt's MSW/GISP brother 'TDN Rising Star' Nitrous and stakes-winning full-sister Speedometer. The January-foaled chestnut debuts in the colors of Kazumi Yoshida and will be ridden by Ryusei Sakai. B-Winchell Thoroughbreds LLC (KY)

4th-NII, ¥13,720,000 ($92k), Newcomers, 2yo, 1600mT
SHIN FOREVER (c, 2, Complexity–Praising, by Pulpit) was another OBS March purchase by trainer Hideyuki Mori on behalf of Fujita, as the May 7 foal fetched $300,000 after a :9 4/5 breeze. A half-brother to SW Camp Hope (Summer Front), the bay is out of a daughter of MSW Class Above (Quiet American), the dam of SW & MGSP Sueno (Atreides). B-Bret Jones (KY)

5th-SAP, ¥13,720,000 ($92k), Newcomers, 2yo, 1200mT
XCARET (JPN) (f, 2, American Pharoah–Sweet Mana {Arg}, by Easing Along) is out of a four-time Group 2 scorer who was brought up from Argentina in 2020 and was covered by this sire before she was exported to Japan, where she foaled this filly on Jan. 25, 2022. This is the family of Miss Serendipity (Arg) (Not For Sale {Arg}), winner at home of the G1 Estrellas Distaff and later successful in the 2014 GI Gamely Stakes while under the care of Ron McAnally. Xcaret is trained by Yoshito Yahagi. B-Tsuyoshi Kuroiwa
