Fasig-Tipton Digital Sale Overcomes Technical Issue, Successfully Concludes with 224 Lots Sold

Commuted won Sept. 29 at Churchill | Coady Media

The Fasig-Tipton October Digital Sale, which was delayed by a day due to an unexpected service outage, concluded Wednesday evening with 224 horses sold for a combined gross of $3,466,300. With over 830 bidders registered for the sale, bidding had opened Thursday, Oct. 3, and was scheduled to close Tuesday, Oct. 8, until the technical issue forced officials at the sales company to pivot slightly and conclude a day later than scheduled.

“I want to say a big thank you to all participants for working through some unexpected technical issues with us,” said Fasig-Tipton Director of Digital Sales Leif Aaron. “We were able to sell 224 horses at a 75% clearance rate. Our impromptu Day 2 had robust action. We are looking forward to a tremendous December Digital Sale.”

In a catalogue which featured a wide spectrum of offerings ranging from horses of racing age, breeding stock, weanlings, and yearlings, the topper was Commuted (Gun Runner), who sold for $150,000 to Agent Willowbrook Stables. Sold as hip 47, the 3-year-old bay colt has made three starts, most recently winning a 10-furlong maiden special weight at Churchill Downs Sept. 29 while under the tutelage of Kenny McPeek. Registering an 84 Beyer Speed Figure in that win, he was consigned to Fasig-Tipton by Gainesway as agent for Part of the Walking L Dispersal. Commuted is out of the unraced Final Holiday (Harlan's Holiday) from the extended family of two-time Canadian Horse of the Year Chief Bearhart.

Other top offerings included the winning Lambeth (Arrogate) (hip 16), consigned by Juddmonte and sold for $135,000 to Bigman, and graded-placed multiple winner Northern Flame (Flameaway) (hip 360), consigned by Gainesway, agent and hammered to G.O.A.T. Racing Stable for $125,000. Like Commuted, both are sophomores offered as horses of racing age.

Fasig-Tipton, which has a number of brick and mortar sales upcoming over the next two months, including the 'Night of the Stars' November Sale scheduled for Nov. 4, will host its next Digital Sale in December. Nominations will close Nov. 20 for the December Digital sale, which will open Dec. 5 and close Dec. 10.
