Englehart Confident in 'Big Luvy'

Bridget's Big Luvy (Tiz Wonderful), recent winner of Laurel's Private Terms S. Mar. 21, will make his next start in Saturday's GI Arkansas Derby. The Jeremiah Englehart trainee worked a half-mile bullet in :47.40 at Oaklawn Sunday in preparation for this weekend's race.

“He breezed on Sunday and it was a nice move,” Englehart said. “To me, watching it [it looked like it was done in] :49-:50. We looked at the watch and it was :47 2/5 and he galloped out in a minute flat. We're very happy with that.”

Englehart is confident that his charge will run well this weekend, and admits that the Arkansas Derby will be a test against top company.

“I was expecting him to run well in the Private Terms and he did and I'm expecting him to run his race this time–if it's good enough to win, I'm not sure, but I think he's going to run his race and it's going to tell me where he's at. As far as his style, I'm going to let him do his thing. Angel [Cruz] knows him, and wherever he put him is going to be fine. I think this will be a measuring stick for him. I think he's a nice horse, and I think there's improvement. Hopefully, we'll see him jump forward off that last race and become a nice graded stakes 3-year-old and maybe a Kentucky Derby horse.”
