Participants in the Backside Learning Center's 20th anniversary raffle have the chance to win one of three items donated by Woodford Reserve: a Woodford Reserve Kentucky Derby 150 Baccarat Edition (Value = $15,000), a Gold Mint Julep Cup (Value = $5,000), and a Silver Mint Julep Cup (Value = $1,000).
The Derby 150 Baccarat Edition bottle is Woodford's rarest bottle yet. “I think these are true pieces of art,” said Woodford Reserve Master Distiller Elizabeth McCall. “We only made 150 bottles. One bottle went to the owner of the Derby winner. One bottle went to the BLC, and 148 were to be sold to consumers. So, anyone who gets their hands on this bottle has a true exquisite piece for their collection.”
The Derby 150 gold and silver cup are also rare collectibles. “Everything is done by hand,” said Chris Poynter, PR & partnerships manager with Woodford Reserve & Old Forester. “[They are] hand-designed by Josh Meredith, handcrafted by Graham Newton from The Vault over in Saint Matthews. It takes him a full year to make all the cups.”
Tickets are $100 each and each raffle ticket purchased directly contributes to the BLC's mission to provide support and resources to the diverse community of racetrack workers and their families.
