Debut For Godolphin's Arqana Deauville Sensation

Dubawi | Darley

Observations on the European Racing Scene turns the spotlight on the best European races of the day, highlighting well-pedigreed horses early in their careers, horses of note returning to action and young runners that achieved notable results in the sales ring. Friday's Observations features an auction star by Dubawi (Ire).

20.25 Haydock, Novice, £10,000, 2yo, 6f 212yT
ANCIENT WISDOM (FR) (Dubawi {Ire}) caused a stir at last year's Arqana Deauville August Yearling Sale when selling for €2 million and ending the auction as the second-highest-priced lot. Charlie Appleby has charge of the April-foaled bay, whose G3 Prix Minerve-winning dam is related to Goldikova (Ire) (Anabaa). He encounters another blueblooded colt in HM The King and HM The Queen's Crown Estate (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}), the first foal out of the 2019 G1 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches heroine Castle Lady (Ire) (Shamardal) from the John and Thady Gosden stable.

18.45 Haydock, Novice, £15,000, 3yo/up, 11f 140yT
GOVERNOR OF INDIA (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}) holds no big-race entries as he debuts for the Oaks-winning combination of Lady Bamford and the Gosdens, but as a son of their G1 Prix de Diane heroine Star Of Seville (GB) (Duke Of Marmalade {Ire}) is of note. This is also the family of another classy performer for the partnership in the G1 St James's Palace S. runner-up King Of Comedy (Ire) (Kingman {GB}).
