Daughter of Madame Chiang Starts at Newcastle

Observations on the European Racing Scene turns the spotlight on the best European races of the day, highlighting well-pedigreed horses early in their careers, horses of note returning to action and young runners that achieved notable results in the sales ring. Friday's Observations features a daughter of Group 1 winner Madame Chiang (GB) (Archipenko).

1.15 Newmarket, Mdn, £12,000, 2yo, f, 7fT
AMANZOE (IRE) (Fastnet Rock {Aus}) debuts for The Starship Partnership II in the silks that her full-brother Rivet (Ire) carried to success in the 2016 G1 Racing Post Trophy. Also a full-sibling of the G3 Lion Rock Trophy winner Booming Delight (Ire) known as Out and About when racing in this country and a half to the G3 Gallinule S. scorer Alexander Pope (Ire) (Danehill Dancer {Ire}) who was re-named Packing Tycoon in Hong Kong, the William Haggas-trained bay appears the stable's second-string on jockey bookings behind James Wigan's fellow newcomer Queenlet (Ire) (Kingman {GB}), whose dam is a full-sister to the top-class Photo Call (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}).

 

5.20 Newcastle, Mdn, £6,800, 2yo, f, 8f 5y (AWT)
CHING SHIH (IRE) (Lope de Vega {Ire}) is the third foal out of Kirsten Rausing's 2014 G1 QIPCO British Champions Fillies & Mares S. heroine Madame Chiang (GB) (Archipenko), whose first was the recent Listed Prix Luth Enchantee winner Oriental Mystique (GB) (Kingman {GB}). That filly, who like the dam and this March-foaled bay, is in the care of David Simcock, was also second in last year's G2 Prix de Malleret and third in the G3 Hoppings Fillies' S. on the Tapeta here in June.
