OCEAN BREEZE (f, 3, Curlin">Curlin–Oceanwave {MGSP, $245,449}, by Harlan's Holiday) the actual post-time favorite at 9-5 over Union Maiden (Union Rags), powered away from her rivals to graduate by 8 1/4 lengths Monday at Churchill. Quickly into stride from her high draw, Ocean Breeze settled in an early fifth and got under way in earnest three wide at the half-mile. Cruising up while traveling well nearing the stretch, she was cut loose by Martin Garcia to take over three-sixteenths out and galloped home a facile winner. Stonestreet firster Raison d'Etre (Medaglia d'Oro), an $825,000 OBS April acquisition, attended the pace and held well for second at a chilly-on-the-board 14-1. Union Maiden missed the break by a length or so, was checked at the back of the leading group nearing the turn and finished well in the lane to finish a very good third. Ocean Breeze was exiting a debut fourth in the Oaklawn slop Apr. 19 in which she rushed up after a slow dispatch from the inside stall and crossed the line fourth to the promising Merneith (American Pharoah). Ocean Breeze's three-time graded-placed dam is herself out of Tamboz (Tapit), a full-sister to Tapizar and responsible for a trio of black-type performers. Oceanwave's most recent produce is a 2-year-old full-sister to Ocean Breeze. Lifetime Record: 2-1-0-0, $48,400. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
