Classic Victor Bollin Eric, 21, Passes Away

Dual English highweighted stayer Bollin Eric (GB) (Shaamit {Ire}–Bollin Zola {Ire}, by Alzao), who won the 2002 G1 St Leger, has died at Colmer Stud in Dorset on Jan. 18, the Racing Post reported on Sunday. He was 21. Bred by the late Sir Neil and Lady Westbrook, the February foal raced for his breeders and trainer Tim Easterby. In addition to his Classic triumph, the bay also saluted in the G3 Lonsdale S. and was placed a further five times at group level. A half-brother to Group 3 victress Bollin Joanne (GB) (Damister), the son of the Mtoto (GB) horse Shaamit retired to The National Stud in 2004 with four wins from 18 starts and earnings of $789,397. Although he has moved several times since, Bollin Eric held cout at Colmer Stud as a National Hunt sire since 2012.
