Ben Chan, who worked for 19 years for the Hong Kong Jockey Club as a TV reporter and analyst, has been appointed South East Asia representative for Tattersalls. Chan, who recently moved to Newmarket, will focus primarily on promoting Tattersalls sales in Hong Kong, but his role will also encompass Macau and Singapore.

In addition to his raceday role in Hong Kong, Chan also covered international meetings for the Hong Kong Jockey Club and is a contributor to the Chinese language Hong Kong racing publication Hong Kong Daily News.

Chan said, “There have been so many top Hong Kong horses bought from Tattersalls over the years and I am enormously looking forward to promoting Tattersalls sales not only to owners and trainers in Hong Kong, but also to buyers in Macau and Singapore. Tattersalls is widely regarded as the European market leader with a reputation for outstanding customer service and I am thrilled to be joining the Tattersalls team in this new role.”

Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony said, “Hong Kong, Macau and Singapore have always been important markets for Tattersalls and Ben Chan is a great addition to our roster of overseas representatives. Well known and respected in the Hong Kong racing industry, Ben brings a wealth of experience to the role and his knowledge and extensive contacts in Hong Kong and the wider South East Asia region will be invaluable as we look to promote all Tattersalls sales to as wide an international audience as possible.”
