Having had success with the likes of dual Horse of the Year Curlin, champion My Miss Aurelia and Dominus, it was no surprise that Barbara Banke's Stonestreet Stables would emerge as the winning bidder on a bid of $900,000 on another son of Lane's End's Smart Strike Thursday at Keeneland. Consigned by Dromoland Farm as agent for its longtime client Peter Blum, hip 1021 was produced by Mon Belle (Maria's Mon), a full sister to GI Kentucky Derby hero Monarchos. Gary and Mary West, who campaign last year’s GI FrontRunner S. hero Power Broker (Pulpit) and GI La Brea S. heroine Book Review (Giant’s Causeway), secured the top-priced horse at Wednesday’s third session of the Keeneland January Horses of All Ages Sale in Lexington. Their farm manager and bloodstock advisor Ben Glass went to $350,000 to acquire a Medaglia d’Oro short yearling colt out of GSW Bohemian Lady (Carson City), a half-sister to Any Given Saturday (Distorted Humor). Three Chimneys consigned the colt for breeder Padua Stables as hip 1065.

Hip 97, a War Front colt out of Seasoned (Pulpit) went to Patrick Biancone acting on behalf of Kin Hui $570,000 at Barretts March 2-year-olds in Training Sale. The colt breezed a furlong in :10 4/5 at the under tack show. Bred by Jamm Ltd, he was purchased as a weaning for $100,000 at KEENOV by John Greathouse and was subsequently bought by Phase II Thoroughbreds for $195,000 at FTSAUG. Nechita Brings $1.55M at Magic Millions

Tom Magnier went to A$1.55 million to secure Group 1 winner Nechita (Aus) (Fastnet Rock {Aus}) from the Patinack Farm dispersal during Wednesday's first session of the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale on the Gold Coast. The 4-year-old filly, from the family of Chiming Lass (Aus) and Winona (Aus), won last year's G1 Ascot Vale S. and G3 Silver Shadow S. According to Magnier, Nechita will be retired and will be bred to Pierro (Aus) in Southern Hemisphere time or to Galileo (Ire) in the Northern Hemisphere.
