Three Casino Sites Selected for New York

The New York State Gaming Commission approved casino-resort plans in three of the possible four locations today, and decided not to permit any in Orange County, the county under consideration which was closest to New York City. Those chosen were the Lago Casino in Tyre, New York, near Finger Lakes Racetrack; Rivers Casino in Schenectady, about 20 miles from Saratoga; and the Montreign Casino and Adelaar Resort in Sullivan County in the Catskills.
