Bradley Thoroughbreds is seeking a full-time Accounting Manager and Bookkeeper responsible for maintaining all financial records and accounts associated with Bradley Thoroughbreds, LLC including but not limited to BT Pinhook Ventures, BT Racing Ventures, and the personal accounts of the owner.

 Duties

  • Maintain accounts for business entities including Bradley Thoroughbreds, LLC Operating and Escrow Accounts, the BT Pinhooking and Racing Ventures, and the personal accounts of the owner using Quickbooks and Ardex.
  • Oversee all Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable for Bradley Thoroughbreds, LLC. Issue monthly account statements to co-owners in BT Ventures.
  • Maintain and distribute year-end P&Ls, Balance Sheets and Expense Ledgers to the co-owners in all BT Ventures.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end tax reports.
  • Invoice and maintain records of all sale transactions of horses, seasons and shares.
  • Process payroll for all employees on a bi-monthly basis.

 Qualifications:

  • Accounting degree or equivalent experience with bookkeeping and accounting.
  • Proficient in Quickbooks, Excel, and general computer skills.
  • Knowledge of thoroughbred industry is a plus.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Must be self-motivated and possess a willingness to learn.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong sense of professionalism.

The Role

The Group CFO is responsible for financial strategic direction and will provide the commercial and financial leadership for HRI and its subsidiaries and associates (Tote Ireland, Irish Thoroughbred Marketing and HRI Racecourses Limited and the Curragh Racecourse Ltd). The role is responsible for the delivery of the Group's financial and business objectives in line with HRI's Strategic Plan. In addition, the role has direct responsibility for sustainability and governance such as internal audit and risk management. The CFO acts as a key liaison with stakeholders for the Group, including the Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine, the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General, Financial Institutions, Insurance and Pension Providers and various Industry bodies.

The Person
HRI are seeking a suitably qualified individual who has been operating at Board level with an established track record as a member of a senior leadership team as a CFO or Finance Director. Proven leadership experience of managing a finance team in either a commercial organisation or semi-state body is required, including excellent people and communication skills and the capacity to influence, negotiate and drive performance across a broad mandate.
A strong growth mindset is essential, along with the ability to create solutions capable of being delivered within a tight governance framework. Strategic capability, coupled with sound commercial acumen, is required to drive the extensive strategic plan and to represent HRI to all its internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

• Assist the Director of Equine Operations (DEO) in overseeing and supervising daily operations of the barn, including feeding, watering, and cleaning stables.

• Ensure all horses receive proper care and attention, including the handling of medications, supplements, and record-keeping.

• Managing the daily stable bandaging.

• Collaborate with veterinarians, therapists, and farriers when necessary.

• With the assistance of the Director of Business Operations, manage inventory of feed, shavings, and horse supplies to ensure adequate stock levels at all times.

• Maintain proper inventory records for products coming in and going out, and order products only with the appropriate approval.

• Filing and maintaining accurate records of the horse's general health.

• Assist the DEO in preparing the horse's daily training plan and implementing in-take, exit forms and videos.

• Assist in the recruitment of riders and pairing them with horses.

• Assist with the recording of the training chart, organizing the breaking process, horse equipment, and the planning of breeze days.

• Some sale travel possible and participation in consignments.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a stable setting.

• Strong knowledge of training horses, equine nutrition, behavior, and health.

• Familiarity with sales entries, racing offices.

• General knowledge of lasers and Magna wave a plus.

• Knowledge of Spanish a plus.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word). Ability to learn T-Lore platform, monthly billing, and payables a plus.
